Excerpt
Clark Mollenhoff will break this week an exclusive story on the tie-in between Senator Muskie and the about to be defunct Maine beet cugar plant. The EDA \vill lose $13 million (all of it guaranteed during the Johnson Administration) when the Maine sugar plant files for bankruptcy. The loans were approved by Muskie associates, one of whom subsequentlyJoined his staff. There is a good bit of financial relationship with the promoter and I believe a fair amount o hanky pan'cy that will fall out of this. I have reaoon to think that the iseuo will be kept alive.
